CVE-2026-9082
Overview
This vulnerability is a SQL Injection flaw resulting from improper neutralization of special elements in SQL commands within Drupal core. The root cause lies in insufficient sanitization or validation of user-supplied input that is directly incorporated into database queries. Affected components include multiple Drupal core versions spanning from 8.9.0 up to versions prior to 11.3.10, where input handling in database interaction routines fails to prevent injection.
Vulnerability Description
Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection') vulnerability in Drupal Drupal core allows SQL Injection. This issue affects Drupal core: from 8.9.0 before 10.4.10, from 10.5.0 before 10.5.10, from 10.6.0 before 10.6.9, from 11.0.0 before 11.1.10, from 11.2.0 before 11.2.12, from 11.3.0 before 11.3.10.
Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the backend database without requiring user interaction or credentials. This can lead to unauthorized data disclosure, modification, or deletion, potentially compromising the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Drupal site’s data. Successful exploitation may allow full system compromise or lateral movement within the affected environment, resulting in significant business impact such as data breaches or service disruption.
Solution
Apply the security updates provided by Drupal in advisory SA-CORE-2026-004. Specifically, upgrade Drupal core to versions 10.4.10 or later, 10.5.10 or later, 10.6.9 or later, 11.1.10 or later, 11.2.12 or later, or 11.3.10 or later, depending on your current version. Detailed patch instructions and version-specific fixes are available at https://www.drupal.org/sa-core-2026-004. No alternative workarounds are recommended by the vendor.
