CVE-2026-86124
Overview
The vulnerability is an unauthenticated remote code execution flaw rooted in the TCP server component of HKUDS AutoAgent. The TCP server binds to all network interfaces and improperly handles incoming connections without authentication, allowing execution of attacker-supplied commands. This occurs due to insufficient access control in the command execution logic within the containerized environment.
Vulnerability Description
AutoAgent contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the TCP server that binds to all interfaces and executes attacker-supplied commands as root. Attackers can connect to the exposed communication port and execute arbitrary bash commands within the container, gaining access to bind-mounted host workspace directories.
Impact
An attacker can remotely connect to the exposed TCP port without any authentication or user interaction and execute arbitrary commands as root inside the container. This grants full control over the container environment and access to host-mounted directories, potentially leading to data theft, manipulation, or further lateral movement within the host system. The compromise can result in complete system takeover and unauthorized access to sensitive project workspaces.
Solution
Users of HKUDS AutoAgent should refer to the GitHub issue #96 and the related code commits for remediation details. The vendor has addressed the vulnerability by restricting TCP server bindings and enforcing authentication before command execution. Upgrading to the fixed version referenced in the GitHub repository is recommended. No official advisory ID is provided, but the GitHub repository and issue tracker serve as the authoritative sources for patching instructions.
