CVE-2026-118527

MEDIUM CISA KEV Pub 03/11 Upd 03/11

Overview

This vulnerability is a predictable filename issue affecting the file upload mechanism in Ivanti Connect Secure. The root cause lies in the use of deterministic naming conventions for uploaded files, enabling attackers with authentication to anticipate file locations. The affected component is the file upload functionality within Ivanti Connect Secure versions prior to 25.1.1.3 and 22.8R2.6.

Vulnerability Description

Use of predictable filenames in Ivanti Connect Secure before versions 25.1.1.3 and 22.8R2.6 allows a remote authenticated attacker to upload files with attacker-controlled content to a known location on disk.

Impact

An attacker with valid authentication can upload malicious files to known locations on the server, potentially enabling further exploitation such as tampering with application behavior or injecting malicious content. This can facilitate privilege escalation or persistence within the environment. The prerequisite is possession of a low-privileged account on the Ivanti Connect Secure appliance. The business impact includes unauthorized modification of system files, undermining system integrity and potentially leading to lateral movement or service disruption.

Solution

Ivanti has released security updates addressing this issue in Ivanti Connect Secure versions 25.1.1.3 and 22.8R2.6. Administrators should apply these patches as detailed in the Ivanti Security Advisory available at https://hub.ivanti.com/s/article/Security-Advisory-Ivanti-Connect-Secure-CVE-2026-104935. No alternative workarounds are specified; timely patching is recommended to mitigate the vulnerability.
