CVE-2026-114625

CRITICAL CISA KEV POC Pub 22/10 Upd 24/10

Overview

This vulnerability is an authentication and authorization bypass in the Arista Networks VeloCloud Orchestrator (VCO) on-premises deployment. The root cause lies in improper access control mechanisms that allow authenticated users to escalate privileges to operator level and impersonate a local superuser operator account. The flaw affects internal functionality of the VCO host that is intended exclusively for local or internal use, but is erroneously exposed to remote authenticated users.

Vulnerability Description

VeloCloud Orchestrator (VCO) on-prem has a security issue where this issue may allow a remote attacker to access privileged internal functionality and impact the VCO host. Successful exploitation may compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the orchestrator and data managed by the orchestrator. On an affected system, any authenticated user can gain operator privileges and masquerade as a local "superuser operator" user. This includes access to functionality that is intended for internal use only and which is not intended to be remotely accessible. Hosted, including Dedicated, versions of VCO were impacted and have already been patched.

Impact

An attacker with any authenticated user credentials can escalate privileges to operator level and impersonate a superuser operator, gaining unauthorized access to privileged internal functions. This enables full compromise of the orchestrator’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability, including access to sensitive data managed by the orchestrator and potential disruption of orchestrator operations. The prerequisite is possession of valid user authentication; no additional user interaction is required. This can lead to complete system compromise and unauthorized control over network orchestration tasks.

Solution

Arista Networks has released patches addressing this vulnerability for both hosted and dedicated versions of VeloCloud Orchestrator. Users should apply the updates as detailed in Arista Security Advisory 0199 available at https://www.arista.com/en/support/advisories-notices/security-advisory/24838-security-advisory-0199. The advisory provides specific version numbers and upgrade instructions to remediate the issue. No alternative workarounds are recommended by the vendor.
