CVE-2026-108142
Overview
This vulnerability is an authentication bypass in the CDP Coordinator Service of Veeam Backup and Replication. It stems from improper authorization checks that allow unauthenticated requests to access protected service functions. The flaw resides specifically within the CDP Coordinator component, which handles continuous data protection coordination tasks.
Vulnerability Description
A vulnerability allowing an unauthenticated attacker to bypass authorization on the CDP Coordinator Service.
Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can bypass authorization controls to interact with the CDP Coordinator Service, potentially gaining unauthorized access to backup coordination functions. This can lead to unauthorized data exposure, manipulation of backup processes, or disruption of data protection workflows. No credentials or user interaction are required, enabling remote exploitation and increasing the risk of data integrity compromise and operational disruption in backup environments.
Solution
Veeam has released a security update addressing this vulnerability in Veeam Backup and Replication as detailed in their advisory at https://www.veeam.com/kb4948. Users should upgrade to the patched version specified in the advisory to remediate the issue. No alternative workarounds are documented; applying the vendor-provided patch is the recommended mitigation step.
