CVE-2024-21287
Overview
This vulnerability is an authorization bypass in the Oracle Agile PLM Framework's Software Development Kit and Process Extension components. The root cause lies in improper access control validation within HTTP network interfaces, allowing unauthenticated users to interact with protected functions. The affected component is the Oracle Agile PLM Framework version 9.3.6, specifically its network-accessible SDK and process extension modules.
Vulnerability Description
Vulnerability in the Oracle Agile PLM Framework product of Oracle Supply Chain (component: Software Development Kit, Process Extension). The supported version that is affected is 9.3.6. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Agile PLM Framework. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Agile PLM Framework accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.5 (Confidentiality impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N).
Impact
An attacker with network access can exploit this vulnerability without authentication to gain unauthorized access to critical and sensitive data managed by the Oracle Agile PLM Framework. This unauthorized access can lead to exposure of confidential business information or complete compromise of all data accessible through the affected framework. The exploit requires only network connectivity to the HTTP interface, enabling remote attackers to bypass security controls and access protected resources.
Solution
Oracle has released a security alert addressing this vulnerability for Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle Management version 9.3.6. Administrators should apply the patches and updates provided in the Oracle advisory at https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/alert-cve-2024-21287.html. The advisory contains detailed instructions for remediation and any recommended configuration changes to mitigate unauthorized access risks.
