CVE-2023-25547
Overview
This vulnerability is an incorrect authorization flaw (CWE-863) in Schneider Electric StruxureWare Data Center Expert. The root cause is improper access control validation on package upload and installation functionalities. The affected component improperly trusts low privileged user accounts, allowing unauthorized execution of privileged operations within the software management interface.
Vulnerability Description
A CWE-863: Incorrect Authorization vulnerability exists that could allow remote code execution on upload and install packages when a hacker is using a low privileged user account. Affected products: StruxureWare Data Center Expert (V7.9.2 and prior)
Impact
An attacker with a low privileged user account can remotely execute arbitrary code on the affected system by uploading and installing malicious packages. This requires network access to the management interface and valid low-level credentials but no user interaction. Exploitation can lead to full system compromise, data manipulation, and potential lateral movement within the network.
